BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team saw its 38-game winning streak against American Southwest Conference foes come to a screeching halt as they lost 63-39 at Howard Payne in ASC West Division play Saturday at the Brownwood Coliseum. The Cowgirls started the game cold, not making a field goal in the first 6:53 and finished the game even colder not making a field goal and scoring just five points in the last 11:02 of the game. HSU shot just 22 percent for the game and had 26 turnovers. Lauren Harris was the only Cowgirl to score over four points as she had 18. Nichole Salzman led the Yellowjackets with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The loss ended the Cowgirls 14-game winning streak and dropped them to 14-2 on the year. HPU improved to 14-2 and. Both teams stand alone at the top of the ASC West standings with 4-1 marks. HSU plays at Schreiner University on Thursday. |
