AUSTIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its second game on the final shot in the last week as Keila Strader hit a wide-open lay-up to drop Concordia-Austin 67-65, Thursday evening in American Southwest Conference action at the Woltman Activities Center in Austin. Melissa Forth penetrated and found a wide-open Strader with four seconds to play. The shot came one week after the Cowgirls defeated Howard Payne at the buzzer last week. With McMurry's loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor, the Cowgirls are in sole possession of first place in the ASC West. Lyssa Dennard scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the first half and Diana Martinez added 17 points for the Cowgirls. Melissa Henley had 10 points. Danielle Barnett led Concordia with 19 points and Ashley Edwards had 18 points, but was 5-for-16 with 11 turnovers. HSU is now 13-1 on the year and 11-1 in ASC play. Concordia fell to 10-5 and 9-3 in league play. The Cowgirls play at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. |
