Cowgirls Roll Schreiner

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its seventh straight game with a 90-61 American Southwest Conference win over Schreiner University, Friday night at the Mabee Complex in Abilene.

HSU came out of the gate with a 16-2 run and were never threatened. All 14 Cowgirls played at least four minutes in the first half. HSU led 40-24 at the break.

The Cowgirl starters pushed the lead back to 27 points and the bench finished up the final 11 minutes of the game.

Laci Walker led the Cowgirls with 14 points, Melissa Contrucci added 13 and Lindsay Steinberger had 11 points off the bench.

Monica Enriquez led Schreiner with 15 points and Kerrie Carter had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

HSU improved to 12-2 with the win and Schreiner fell to 5-11 overall and 5-7 in league play. HSU hosts Texas Lutheran on Saturday at 4 p.m.
