ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team pushed its winning streak to eight with a 78-66 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference action on Thursday night at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls jumped to a 7-0 lead and never trailed. HSU pushed it out to 24-6 at the 12:57 mark of the first half. UMHB responded with a 21-8 run to cut the Cowgirl lead to 32-27 with 2:58 to play in the first half. HSU had one more run in the first half and pushed the lead out to 38-27 before UMHB scored the last five points of the half to make it 38-32 at halftime. In the second half, the lead stayed around between five and 12 points until the 10-12 mark when it was 55-49. HSU pulled away with a 19-4 run over a five-minute stretch and HSU led bu its biggest margin at 74-53 with 4:03 to play. HSU was led offensively by Rachel Cisneroz with 21 points. Ashley Allen had 13 points and her sister Haylee added 11. Point guard Bo Warm had 10 points and nine assists with only one turnover for the Cowgirls. UMHB had a balanced attack that was led by Landie Thompson with 15 points. HSU hit 16-of-29 shots in each half to shot 55.2 percent in the game. HSU outscoed UMHB 52-26 in the paint and 16-0 on the fast break. The Cowgirls are now 11-2 on the year and 8-1 in ASC play. UMHB fell to 8-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play. HSU plays Concordia on Saturday at 1 p.m. |
