Cowgirls Win at Concordia-Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team scored the final 13 points of the first half to break a 24-24 tie and went on to a 72-59 win over Concordia-Austin in American Southwest action, Thursday night in Austin.

Laci Walker led four Cowgirls in double figures with 16 points. Rachel Cisneroz and Melissa Contrucci each scored 12 points and Lyssa Dennard had 10 points.

In the 13-0 run to close the half,Sarah Hauk hit a 3-pointer, and Lyssa Dennard hit two 3-pointers in a row of her own. Laci Walker hit a layup at the buzzer to make it 37-24.

HSU was never threatened in the second half and opened a 26-point lead at 69-43 with 5:24 to play.

HSU is 10-2 on the year and 8-1 in ASC play. CUA fell to 4-7 and 4-4 in league play. HSU plays at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game can be heard on KSLI 1280 AM.
