Cowgirls Win Fifth Straight

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team only led by two points at halftime, but outscored Ozarks 64-42 in the second half for a 93-69 American Southwest Conference road win in Clarksville, Ark., on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Diana Martinez continues her strong play as she had 19 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Lyssa Dennard (19), Melissa Henley (16) and Melissa Forth (11) joined Martinez in double figures for the second straight game.

The Cowgirls used two 13-2 runs in the second half to pull away. The Cowgirls committed a season-low seven turnovers in the game.

The Cowgirls have now won five straight games and are in second place in the ASC West. They host Howard Payne on Thursday night. Both teams are 8-1 in league play. HSU is 10-1 overall. Ozarks fell to 2-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
