ABILENE, Texas - Sonya West had her second straight huge game for the Cowgirls with 16 points and 17 rebounds and the Hardin-Simmons women's basketball team rolled to a 92-70 win over the University of the Ozarks, Thursday night at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls used a 16-0 run to go from trailing 22-21 at the 7:49 mark to leading 37-22 with 1:13 to go in the half. Rachel Cisneroz had five points in the run as it was the knockout blow for the Cowgirls. Ozarks was never closer than 10 points the rest of the game. UO came into the game with an ASC East leading 6-1 mark, but fell to 7-4 overall and 6-2 in league play. HSU is now 8-2 on the year and 6-2 in conference play. Lyssa Dennard had 17 points for the Cowgirls and Melissa Henley added 16 as Hsu had a balanced attack. Freshman standout LaTisha McCalister led the Lady Eagles with 22 points. HSU returns to action Saturday when it hosts Austin College. |
