Cowgirls Roll To Fifth Straight Win

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team turned up the pressure on defense in the second half and pulled away for an easy 91-53 win over Ozarks in American Southwest Conference action Thursday night at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls tied their top point production game of the season with the 91 points. Hsu forced 26 turnovers and doubled the Eagles up on the boards by outrebounding them 61-30.

It was a total team effort as six players scored in double figures, including three off the bench. Mollie Brawner led the way with 14 points and Allison Bray and Haylee Allen each had 13 points off the bench. Freshman post Lindsey Newcombe had 12 points and eight rebounds and Rachel Cisneroz and Ashley Allen had 11 points each.

The Cowgirls jumped out to a 44-23 lead and did it by attacking the glass. HSU outscored Ozarks 30-3 on second-chance points in the game and the Cowgirls bench outscored Ozarks 53-26.

Ozarks was led by Erica Eneks with 14 points and Olivia Fisher added 13.

The win was the fifth straight for the Cowgirls, who improved to 8-2 on the year. HSU is 5-1 in ASC play. Ozarks fell to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in league play.
