ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its 33rd straight game against American Southwest Conference opponents with a 76-38 win over East Texas Baptist in ASC Crossover action Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls, paced by 12 points by Diana Martinez, ran out to a 35-6 lead at the 5:22 mark of the first half and never let the Tigers get anything offensively. It was a game that saw the Cowgirl starters only outscore the bench by two points, 39-37. HSU's defense was the story of the game forcing 39 turnovers and limiting the Tigers to 32.7 percent from the field and 0-for-12 from 3-point range. Martinez led the Cowgirl effort with 17 points, freshman Melissa Henley added 12. Delyla Hoodye had 13 for the visitors. Hardin-Simmons, now 8-1 on the year, will return to action Monday at 5:30 when it hosts LeTourneau. ETBU fell to 3-5 on the season. |
