June 29, 2005 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' tennis teams finished the season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Final Team Rankings released recently. It is the first time the Cowboys have ever been in the national year-end rankings coming in at No. 22. The Cowgirls were No. 15. Junior David Wu finished the year ranked No. 52 in the nation in singles and he was ranked fifth in doubles with teammate Brad Grace. The two earned All-American honors with their trip to the NCAA Semifinals in doubles. In the West region, the Cowboys are ranked No. 7, Wu is No. 18 in singles and Wu and Grace are second in doubles. HSU won its fourth straight American Southwest Conference title this season and posted a 16-5 record. The Cowgirls finished the year ranked No. 15 in the nation and No. 5 in the region. The Cowgirls finished the year with a 13-7 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. Carlonie Scott and Stephanie Haynes were ranked No. 22 and No. 23 in the region in singles and the duo was ranked 10th in doubles. The Cowgirls have won five straight American Southwest Conference titles. |
