Oglesby Leads Men's Tennis Award Winners

Dusty Oglesby

May 3, 2006

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team won its fifth straight American Southwest Conference crown this past weekend and with that comes recognition and awards. Dusty Oglesby highlighted the awards for the men as he was named ASC West Division Player of the Year.

Coach Shane Williford, who steered the Cowboys to a 10-7 record and a program that has dominated the ASC for the last five year, was named the West Division Coach of the Year. The Cowboys have gone 51 straight matches with conference foes without a loss.

Oglesby had a very successful senior campaign as he helped lead the Cowboys to win their fifth straight conference title this past weekend. Oglesby also won the first three ASC player of the year awards, in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and this year makes him the first-ever four-time MVP in the league.

Oglesby was joined by his doubles partner David Wu on the ASC All-Conference first team and All-ASC West Division first team. This is Wu's fourth straight season to earn first-team honors.

Earning All-West Division second team accolades were juniors Wes Kidd and Roy Lehman, and sophomore Ryan Waters. Kidd and Lehman came on strong at the end of the year and were a huge reason the Cowboys defended their conference title.

Sophomore Wade Morgan rounded up the awards for the men as he was the lone Cowboy on the All-ASC West Division honorable mention team. It was the second year in a row that Kidd, Lehman, and Morgan all earned ASC honors.
