PORTLAND, Oregon-The Hardin-Simmons University men's tennis team finsihed the second day of play at the ITA Regional Tournament today. The Cowboy's had a strong finish with one doubles team remaining in the tournament.

Doubles team of senior Mitch Aston and junior Mark Plowman defeated No. 7 seed Changstrom/Gamble of Whitman 8-5. In the semifinals HSU defeated No. 6 seed Parker/Rubenstein of Trinity 8-6. Aston and Plowman will meet No. 1 seed Fifiled/Scott of Trinity in the finals of the ITA Regional Tournament.

In the other half of the doubles draw, HSU's junior Brad Grace and freshman David Wu defeated No. 3 seed Svad/Wiggins of Pacific Lutheran 8-5, before falling to No. 1 seed Fifield/Scott of Trinity in the semifinals.

In the singles main draw, No. 1 seed Mitch Aston defeated No. 11 seed Trevor Gamble of Whitman 6-4,6-2 and then fell to No. 8 seed Adam Rubenstein of Trinity 2-6,6-4,4-6 in a close match for a chance to advance to the semifinals. Freshman David Wu fell to Rubenstein 2-6,1-6 in the round of 16 and freshman Bryce Hicks, also finished the tournament in the round of 16 with a hard fought match with No. 5 seed Reid Wiggins of Pacific Lutheran.

In the singles consolation draw, sophmore Doug Eckstein defeated Robert Moseley of Howard Payne 6-1,6-0 and then falling to T.J. Walthall of Southwestern 3-6,6-4,6-10. Also HSU's Justin Narvid defeated Kevin Fisher of Howard Payne 6-2,6-0 and then fell to Steven Schaefer of Trinity 3-6,4-6.

After returing from Oregon the Cowboy's will have completed their fall season and will start preparing for the spring season. The Cowboy's have great expectaions for what the next season holds.
