Hardin-Simmons men's tennis team has great expectations for their fall season. On Friday the Cowboys started the ITA West Regional Tournament in Oregon with a good showing. No. 1 singles seed, Mitch Aston, freshman David Wu, and freshman Bryce Hicks are the reamining Cowboys in the main draw. In the consolation bracket, Justin Narvid and Ethan Moore are the Cowboys that still remain. HSU's strong point this year is in their doubles. Four out of the five teams the Cowboy's entered in the tournament past the first round Friday afternoon. No. 2 doubles seed, Mitch Aston and Mark Plowman, beat Trintiy's team of Steven Schaefer adn Jeremy Stone 8-2 in the first round. In the round of 16 Aston and Plowman beat none seeded Howard Payne's Matt Hembree and Jason Kiser 8-3. They will play No. 7 seed Bradley Changstrom and Trevor Gamble of Whitman this afternoon. On the other side of the men's doubles draw, Brad Grace and David Wu beat Linfield's Justin Greene and Chris Rivera 8-2 in the first round. Unfortunately, Grave and Wu met teammates Justin Narvid and Bryce Hicks in the second round, where Grace and Wu won 8-3. They will face No. 3 seed, Gabriel Scad and Reid Wiggins of Pacific Lutheran today in the quarterfinals.
