Final Stats

TYLER, Texas - Hardin-Simmons University Men's Tennis Team advanced to the ASC Championship match with a 4-0 semifinal win against Mississippi College on Saturday in Tyler, Texas.

The Cowboys earned the doubles point as the No. two duo of Doug Eckstein and Ryan Waters pulled off a 9-7 victory over Chas Dunn and Porter Glover. Wade Morgan and Tanner Reed won at No. three doubles with an 8-6 score over Daniel Rigdon and Brooks Buffington. David Wu and Dusty Oglesby match did not finish due to HSU sweeping the first two doubles matches.

HSU picked up three wins in singles play to end the match at 4-0. The Cowboys won all their singles matches in straight sets. Wes Kidd defeated Porter Glover at No. three singles by scores of, 6-2, 6-3. Junior Roy Lehman won his match easily against Michael Ward in a, 6-1, 6-3 defeat. Closing out the match for the Cowboys was Ryan Waters when he defeated Brooks Buffington, 6-3, 6-4.

With the win the Cowboys moved to 11-6 overall and Mississippi College ended their season with a 10-6 record.

The Cowboys will return to action tomorrow when they will face UT-Tyler for the ASC Championship. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Tyler.
