April 4, 2005 AUSTIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team won its 37th straight American Southwest Conference match with an easy 7-0 win over Concordia-Austin, Saturday afternoon in Austin. The Tornados only had three players which gave the Cowboys forfeits at No. 4, 5, 6 singles and No. 2 and 3 doubles. Wade Morgan, Joel McDowell and Trent Graham won straight set singles matches and Reed Stafford and Morgan won the only doubles match 8-0. Later in the afternoon the Cowboys fell to nationally-ranked Trinity 7-0. HSU won only one match at No. 1 doubles, where David Wu and Brad Grace defeated Stuart Row and Jim Shauhnessy, 8-4. The Cowboys' top pair is 20-2 on the year and have defeated all of the best doubles' teams in the West Region. The No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams each lost 9-7 to give the Tigers the doubles' point. Wu and Grace each lost three-set singles matches and the rest of the Cowboys lost in straight sets. HSU is now 10-4 on the season and are 3-0 in ASC West play. HSU will close out conference play with four matches this weekend. |
