ALPINE, Texas - The HSU men's tennis team returned to action this week with ASC play against the Sul Ross Lobos. The Cowboys defeated the Lobos 7-0, to go 3-0 in ASC play and 9-3 on the season.

HSU easily won the doubles point with wins from all three doubles teams. The men then swept the singles before completing the match.

Strong play was seen from freshmen, David Wu, Ethan Moore, and Wesley Jones. David Wu defeated Randy Gardea 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 while Ethan Moore defeated Jack Sanchez 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Another freshman stepped up to the challenge, Wesley Jones defeated Frank Sandana 7-6, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.

Other wins came from Junior Brad Grace who defeated Greg Tielke 7-5, 6-4 at No.1 and Junior John Roaten playing No. 3 defeated Joey Reyes 6-1, 6-3. Also Sophomore Reed Stafford won at the No. 5 spot defeating Javier Molinar 6-0, 6-1.

The Cowboys are still going strong as they venture toward the conference tournament scheduled for mid April. HSU will return to action this coming weekend, when they will travel to ASC rivals Howard Payne and Mary-Hardin Baylor. Both matches are on the road, with Howard Payne scheduled for 8:00a.m. and Mary-Hardin Baylor at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, March 29th.
