ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team lost 7-1 to Division II opponent Midwestern State at the Streich Tennis Center on a windy Tuesday afternoon. Midwestern State earned the doubles point as they won all three matches. Brett Emerson and Zac Dilliard took out the Cowboys number one duo of David Wu and Dusty Ogelsby by a score of 8-3. The pair of Wade Morgan and Tanner Reed battled hard at number three doubles but came up short with an 8-6 loss. At singles, Morgan picked up the lone victory for the Cowboys as he lost the first set 6-3 but Jared King, his opponent, retired due to injury in the second frame. Oglesby pushed his match to the max as lost the first set but came back and won the second set to set up a third game tie-breaker, which he lost 10-8. The loss drops the Cowboys record to 7-2 while Midwestern State improves to 9-3. HSU returns to action on Friday when they will play at Abilene Christian at 2 p.m. |
