Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' 30th-ranked men's tennis team knew going into its Spring Break trip it would be a challenge, but the Cowboys were right there with two nationally ranked teams, dropping a 5-4 decision to Pomona-Pitzer and Kenyon College and finishing the trip with an 8-1 win over UT-Dallas.

HSU lost to No. 23 Kenyon College at Baylor University in Waco to start off the trip. The Cowboys won two of the three doubles matches, with Ryan Waters and Roy Lehman winning 8-6 at No. 1 and Doug Eckstein and Wade Morgan won 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.

Waters won at No. 2 singles and Daniel Moore picked up a win at No. 6 singles. Wade Morgan and Roy Lehman each lost tough 3-setters at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.

After getting rained out at UT-Tyler the Cowboys, came back to Dallas to play Pomona-Pitzer. Eckstein and Morgan won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles to give the Cowboys their only win in doubles. In singles, Justin Lockaby, Morgan and Moore all won their matches.

The Cowboys then played conference foe UT-Dallas in a non-conference match in Richardson. HSU swept doubles play and Waters, Lehman, Lockaby, Morgan and Moore won their singles matches in the 8-1 win.

"We did some good things as a team on this trip," said head coach Shane Williford. "We were right there with two nationally ranked teams. This should give us some momentum as we try to defend our conference title."

HSU is now 4-4 on the season and will return to action this week with the Wildcat Invitational at ACU.
