GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team picked up one of the biggest wins in school history with a 4-3 win over No. 17 Whitman. The Cowboys also lost a tough 5-2 match to No. 6 Claremont Mudd-Scripps and also defeated Southwestern, 6-1. The matches were held at Southwestern in Georgetown and the Austin Tennis Center. David Wu won all three of his No. 1 singles and doubles matches, including two wins over regionally-ranked opponents in singles. He defeated Eric Chow of CMS, 6-3, 6-3 and Chow was ranked No. 40 in the nation. Brad Grace and Wade Morgan each won tough three-set matches against Whitman to give the Cowboys the come-from-behind win. Whitman won the doubles point and then Wu, Grace, Roy Lehman and Morgan won at No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles to win the match 4-3. The Cowboys are now 7-2 on the year and will resume conference action on Saturday when it hosts Texas Lutheran. |
