ABILENE, Texas - The HSU men's tennis team has high hopes for this year's ASC Individual Tournament, which will be held this weekend. The Cowboys finished last year with titles consisting of 1st and 2nd doubles and 1st singles.

Last seasons singles champion Mitch Aston will be unable to defend his title this year. Due to a nagging shoulder injury Aston pulled out of the tournament with hopes of quick recovery. With Aston out of the tournament, who was seeded No.1 in Flight A, freshman David Wu has received the No.4 seed in Flight A. Also in Flight A singles is junior Brad Grace and senior Mark Plowman.

As for the doubles the No.1 seed has been given to HSU's Brad Grace and David Wu. Also competing for the doubles title is the duo of Mark Plowman and Ethan Moore. A few of the other doubles teams competeting this weekend are Bryce Hicks and Justin Narvid and the duo of John Roaten and Reed Stafford.

The HSU men will begin play at 9:00a.m. with singles at Rose Park, weather permitting. Doubles are scheduled to start at 2:00p.m. tomorrow afternoon. Play will resume on Saturday morning with semifinals and finals in both doubles and singles.
