Dec. 9, 2002 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer coach Kevin Wardlaw has resigned as head coach and has accepted a similar position at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan. Wardlaw who completed his four year run with a 53-21-2 record won three American Southwest Conference titles and took two teams to the NCAA Tournament. The 53 wins rank him second on the all-time HSU men's soccer coaching list. He was 10-6-1 with a young team this past season. He coached two All-Americans at HSU - Trevor Harrison and Brent Camp - and the highlight of his career may have come in a loss to No. 2 Trinity in the 2000 NCAA Playoffs. The game went to four overtimes before the Cowboys fell in San Antonio. "This was a very tough decision for me and (wife)Tina," said Wardlaw. "We love Hardin-Simmons, and was not looking to leave. They came to me and being from Olathe, God just opened some doors for us. We get to be back closer to my family. I wish Hardin-Simmons nothing but the best of luck and thank them for support the last four years." A search is underway to find a replacement.
