Nov. 7, 2002 STAMFORD, Conn. - Jeff Brooks, a junior midfielder on the Hardin-Simmons' Men's Soccer team, has been voted to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Team. Brooks was the only player on the team with a perfect grade point average as he posts a 4.0 GPA as a theology and math double major. Brooks who has been a starter for two of his three seasons at HSU, scored five goals and had four assists in 11 games. He missed most of the first three weeks of the season with a leg injury. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects Verizon Academic All-America teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at-large and women's at large. The men's soccer players on the All-District VI soccer team will have their nominations forwarded to the national ballot, from which student-athletes will be selected as Verizon Academic All-Americans. The Verizon Academic All-District VI Men's Soccer Team for the college division recognizes outstanding NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA student-athletes from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VI Men's Soccer Team (College Division) Pos.
