Men's Soccer Prepares For ASC Tournament

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team will play host UT-Dallas on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinal of the ASC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament at the UTD Soccer Complex in Richardson.

The winner of the tournament gets an automatic nod into the NCAA Championships. McMurry will play Ozarks in the other semifinal at 4:30 p.m.

Hardin-Simmons comes into the tournament with a 13-3-2 record and were 8-1-1 in ASC West Division play to finish second in the West. UT-Dallas was 12-7 overall and 10-4 in ASC East play.

Hardin-Simmons is led offensively by talented forwards David Salas (14 goals, four assists) and James Burton (10 goals, six assists).

The midfield has been led by Ryan Flanigan, Kyle Rampy, Brian Staub and Chris Carroll, who have all started 15 or more games. Rampy leads the team with seven assists and Staub has six helpers and Carroll has five.

In the backfield, the Cowboys are led by All-American candidate Brad Barham, who has started all 18 games at Sweeper. Freshmen T. Chieza and Ricky Matthies and Pancho Gloria have been solid in front of one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

Ryan Shaughnessy has a 0.56 goals against average in 1436 minutes of net action. He has allowed just nine goals and has 88 saves, which is a .907 save percentage.
