Nov. 4, 2004 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team will travel to Richardson for the American Southwest Conference Tournament at the University of Texas at Dallas and will play Schreiner in the first round at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys are in the ASC Tournament for the sixth time in the seven years of the event. HSU won the first four titles from 1998-2001, but are looking for their first win in the tournament since 2001. This is the first year of the expanded ASC Tournament with six teams going to the event. HSU will need three wins in three days for the title. A win on Friday would put the Cowboys up against tournament host and No. 1 seed Texas-Dallas in the semifinals at 3:30 on Saturday. The finals are slated for Sunday at 2 p.m. Hardin-Simmons is led offensively by sophomore David Salas. He has 10 goals and six assists on the year. Senior Kyle Rampy has eight goals on the season. Defensively, junior Chris Carroll leads the defense in front of goalkeeper Ryan Shaughnessy. HSU defeated Schreiner 2-1 in the regular season and hold a 2-2-1 record against the five other teams in the tournament. |
