Ozarks Advances To Finals

Nov. 5, 2005

Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - The University of the Ozarks advanced to the American Southwest Conference men's soccer championship tournament final by virtue of penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie with Austin College.

Both goals in regulation came off of free kicks. Ozarks scored in the 60th minute when Ryan Skelly scored off a Ron Hogsett assist. Austin College came back two minutes later as Adam Keifer rifled a shot into the upper 90.

The two teams battled through two overtimes as it seemed Austin College had the momentum. The Roos had a couple of chances but could not convert and the game went to penalty kicks.

Ozarks keeper Brian Sarber was up to the task as he saved all three penalty kicks by Austin College and the Eagles converted their first three to win the penalty kick session, 3-0.

Austin College ended its season with a 12-6-1 record. Ozarks improved to 13-3-5 and will face Hardin-Simmons on Sunday for a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
