Cowboys Advance To Semifinals

RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament semifinals with a 2-0 win over Schreiner, Friday afternoon in Richardson at the UTD Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first half, the Cowboys jumped out early in the second half. Junior Chris Carroll put the Cowboys on the board in the 48th minute when he scored off a corner kick by Kyle Rampy that was sent to Calvin Key and in. Rampy and Key were credited with the double assist.

HSU got insurance in the 58th minute when Nick Sager scored on a penalty kick. Schreiner outshot the Cowboys 20-17, but HSU won on-goal 9-6. Ryan Shaughnessy was solid in goal with six saves.

The Cowboys will play UT-Dallas in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. HSU improved to 11-6-2 with the win. Schreiner closes its season at 10-10 on the year.
