Cowboys Earn Right To Host ASC Tournament

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team earned the right to host the American Southwest Conference Tournament with a 2-0 win over crosstown rival McMurry, Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Cowboys came out and scored early on a corner kick in the 20th minute. Nick Sager found senior Trevor Elza, who headed it home as the Cowboys celebrated senior day.

HSU scored again in the 35th minute when Keal Rasavage hit a ball that bounced off a McMurry defender and into the goal. The score would remain 2-0 for the rest of the game.

It was a physical contest that saw the teams combine for 40 fouls.

Ryan Shaughnessy recorded a shut out against his former teammates. He was one of six Cowboys to play their final regular-season home game.

HSU improved to 11-4-2 overall and 9-3-1 in ASC play. McMurry ended its season with a 7-10-2, 5-6-2 record.
