Cowboys Tie UMHB, 2-2

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team scored on a free kick in the 75th minute to tie Mary Hardin-Baylor 2-2 in American Southwest Conference action at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Cowboys, who were celebrating senior day for its four seniors - Colt McKee, David Salas, Nick Sager and Ricky Matthies, jumped to an early lead when McKee found Salas for a goal in the 17th minute.

UMHB tied the game in the 37th minute on a Randell Price goal and the Crusaders took the lead a minute into the second half on a Jeremy Whitehurst goal.

McKee scored on the free kick to tie the game and the Cowboys missed several scoring chances late in the game and in overtime.

HSU finishes the regular season with a record of 11-5-1 overall and 9-3-1 in conference play. UMHB finished the regular season 10-8-1 and 7-5-1 in league play in former Cowboy Brad Bankhead's first year as the head coach for the Crusaders. The two teams will play in the first round of the ASC Tournament on Friday in Kerrville at a time to be determined.
