ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team scored two second half goals to down Howard Payne, 2-0, in American Southwest Conference action at the HSU Soccer Complex on Friday afternoon. The teams played a scoreless tie, before the Cowboys came out strong in the second half. David Salas had a penalty kick that sailed high less than a minute into the second half. The Cowboys scored in the 70th minute on a nice freshman-to-freshman connection. Cody Oswald finished off a pace from Matt Lewis to give the Cowboys the lead. Nick Sager scored two minutes later in the 73rd minute. Austin White continues his improvement in goal as he recorded his fifth shutout of the season, stopping seven shots in the process. HSU improved to 11-5-0 on the year and 9-3-0 in ASC action. Howard Payne fell to 3-10-4 and 3-8-1. The Cowboys close out the regular season with a senior day game against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 3 p.m. on Saturday. |
