BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team clinched a berth in the American Southwest Conference Championship next weekend with a 2-0 ASC win over Howard Payne, Friday afternoon in Brownwood. For the second straight game, freshman Zach Krawulski put the Cowboys on the board first with a goal at the 23:01 mark. The Cowboy defense pitched its second straight shutout and Justin Shepherd led the charge with five saves. HPU did out shoot the Cowboys 8-6. HSU put the game away when Patrick Almond scored at the 58:58 mark on an assist from Colt McKee. HSU will be looking for its third straight conference title. The Cowboys can finish anywhere from third to sixth heading into the final day of ASC play on Saturday. HSU is 8-6-1 overall and 8-3-1 in ASC play. HPU fell to 3-12-1 and 2-9-1. The Cowboys will close out the regular season with a game at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. --- HSU --- |
