Oct. 25, 2002 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team defeated Concordia 12-0 Friday night in American Southwest Conference action at Shelton Stadium. Junior Jeff Brooks led the team with three goals scored while junior Marcus Jackson, sophomore Nick Pugh and freshman Mike Yount had two goals each. Freshman R.J. Flores, freshman Chris Garza and Yount scored the first goal of their Cowboy career tonight. Junior Adrian Romero led the team with two assists. Senior goalkeeper Chuck Johnson saw 70 minutes of scoreless action and captured his third shutout of the season and 10th career shutout. The Cowboys out shot Concordia 25 to one. HSU moves to 5-2-1 in ASC play and 9-5-1 overall while Concordia drops to (0-14, 0-7). The Cowboys will return to action Saturday when they host Mary Hardin-Baylor in ASC action in their last home game of the season at Shelton Stadium at 8 p.m. |
