ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex. HSU got on the board in the eight minute when Drew Meilinger scored on a penalty kick, after Louisiana College was called for a hand ball in the box. The Cowboys outshot the Wildcats 31-5 in the game and 15-2 in the first half. David Salas scored his seventh goal of the season when he scored on a corner kick from Brandon Scholl in the 65th minute. HSU's defense was solid in front of Ryan Shaughnessy, who made two saves and recorded his 11th career shutout. The win kept the Cowboys in contention to host the American Southwest Conference Tournament. The host and the six participants will likely not be decided until the end of next week when the regular season ends. The Cowboys improved to 9-4-2 and 7-3-1 in ASC play. Louisiana College fell to 2-14 overall and 0-10 in ASC action. HSU hosts Mississippi College at 1 p.m. on Saturday. |
