ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team held serve with a 4-0 win over McMurry Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex and remains in the hunt for one of six spots in the American Southwest Conference Tournament. HSU took control of the game with a pair of goals right before halftime. Freshman Zach Krawulski scored off a scramble after a corner kick at the 40:26 mark. HSU came right back with another goal less than a minute later when Ethan Carver scored at the 41:14 mark. HSU put the game on ice in the second half with a goal by Grant Woods and a final goal by senior Colt McKee on senior day. McKee is the Cowboys' lone healthy senior. The other senior Ryan Flanigan is out of the year with a broken shin. HSU outshot McMurry 13-10 in the game and had a 5-1 advantage on corners. HSU keeper Justin Shepherd pitched the shutout in the pipes with five saves. The Cowboys are now 7-6-1 on the year and 7-3-1 in league play. HSU has 22 points in league play and the top six teams all have between 22 and 25 points. HSU still has games with Howard Payne, who is in last place in the league, and co-leader Mary Hardin-Baylor. |
