SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team scored a late game-winner for the second straight day as it beat Austin College in American Southwest Conference action, Saturday afternoon in Sherman. The Kangaroos jumped on the board with a Stephen Carpenter goal in the fourth minute, but freshman Danny Oughton responded with a goal in the 27th minute to tie the game at. Austin College went ahead again in the 49th minute when Aaron Pierce scored. HSU had chances but did not score again until the 74th minute when Drew Meilinger scored off a rebound to tie the game. Just three minutes later senior Chris Carroll gave the Cowboys the lead and the win. Ryan Shaughnessy had five saves for the Cowboys, The Cowboys improved to 8-4-2 on the year and 6-3-1 in ASC play. AC fell to 8-5 overall and to 6-3 in conference play. HSU hosts Louisiana College and Mississippi College next weekend at the HSU Soccer Complex. |
