ABILENE, Texas - David Salas scored a goal in the 87th minute to propel the Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team to a 2-1 American Southwest Conference win over the University of the Ozarks, Friday afternoon in Clarksville. Salas had contributed to the Cowboys first goal in the 22nd minute when he found Chris Carroll for a goal to put the Cowboys on top. Ozarks scored in the 55th minute when Ron Hogsett found the net. Ryan Shaughnessy had a solid day in goal with seven saves. Ozarks outshot the Cowboys 13-10 in the game. The win was big for the Cowboys' playoff chances as the Eagles came into the game in second place in the ASC standings and the Cowboys were in sixth. The top six teams advance to the conference tournament. HSU is now 7-4-2 on the year and 5-3-1 in league play. Ozarks is 9-2-2 and 5-1-1 in conference play. |
