ABILENE, Texas - Mississippi College came into its American Southwest Conference game at Hardin-Simmons leading the conference, and they proved why with a 4-0 win over the Cowboys Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex. Phillip Buffington put the Choctaws on the board at the 20:09 mark on a nice pass from Keith Armstrong. Buffington struck again in the 49th minute to make it 2-0. Chris Penton scored the third goal when Gareth DeKlerk punted a long ball into the wind it was headed forward by Chris Rash to Penton for the goal. Brandon Amacker scored the final goal at the 81:22 mark. MC outshot the Cowboys 17-10, including 10-5 on goal. HSU fell to 5-6-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league play. MC improved to 8-2-1 overall and 7-0-1 in league play. The Cowboys host Louisiana College on Saturday at 3 p.m. |
