Cowboys Fall Late To UT-Tyler

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin Simmons' men's soccer team lost 2-1 to UT-Tyler in American Southwest Conference Soccer action, Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.

Christian Trinh scored in the 42nd minute as he recieved a pass from Malek Bekka and streaked through the zone and then kicked it past the goalkeeper Shaughnessy to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.

HSU opened the second half with more energy and created several chances deep in the Patriots' zone but couldnt find the back of the net until forward Nick Sagar picked up the loose ball that came from a corner kick from David Salas and knocked it in for the goal in the 84th minute.

UT-Tyler crushed the spirits of the Cowboys with a goal by Malek Bekka from a pass from Richard White. The goal came just a little over five minutes left in the match and put the Patriots ahead for good.

Hardin-Simmons' outshot UT-Tyler 17-6 but Patriots goalkeeper Andrew Rogers held the Cowboys to only one goal in the second half. Andrew Rogers split time at goal with Geoff Sherman, who played the entire first half.

The Cowboys dropped to 6-4-1 overall and 4-3-0 in conference play. They will host UT-Dallas on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Patriots improved to 8-2-0 and 4-1-0 in ASC action.
