Oct. 4, 2002 AUSTIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team defeated Concordia 13-0 in American Southwest Conference action Friday in Austin, Texas. Sophomore James Burton, junior Jeff Brooks, and sophomore Chris Carroll led the Cowboys with two goals scored each, while junior Matt Leach, freshman Emory Stern, junior Chase Stephens, freshman Chris Garza, junior Adrian Romero, and sophomore Calvin Key all scored one goal each. Sophomore Nick Pugh led the team with two assists and senior goalkeeper Charles Johnson had two saves and recorded his second shutout of the season. Brooks, Leach, Stern, Stephens, Garza and Key scored their first goal of the season while sophomore Ryan Dunlevy, Pugh, Key, Romero, Stern, and Rampy all recorded their first assists. The Cowboys out shot Concordia 27 to three. HSU moves to 2-1-1 in ASC play and 5-4-1 overall and Concordia drops to 0-3 in conference and 0-9 overall. The Cowboys will return to action when they travel Belton, Texas to play Mary Hardin-Baylor in ASC action Saturday at 5 p.m. |
