Final Stats

LONGVIEW, Texas - Senior forward Chris Carroll scored a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes to lead Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team to a 2-0 American Southwest Conference win over LeTourneau, Friday afternoon in Longview.

Carroll, a senior from Singapore, has gone full circle in his career. He started at HSU as a forward moved to midfield and then to defender and has moved back to forward to help kick start the offense.

Carroll scored in the 6th minute on an assist from Link Scoggins. He came back in the 9th minute to score unassisted. It was all the offense the Cowboys needed as Ryan Shaughnessy set the school ASC-era record with his 10th career shutout.

HSU out shot the Yellowjackets 19-10 and avenged a home loss to LeTourneau a year ago. The Cowboys moved to 6-2-1 overall and 4-1 in ASC play. LeTourneau fell to 4-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Hardin-Simmons continues its road swing with a 1 p.m. game at East Texas Baptist on Saturday in Marshall.
