ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team rallied from a 3-2 halftime deficit for a wild 5-4 win over East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference men's soccer action at the HSU Soccer Complex on Friday evening. The Cowboys jumped to a 1-0 lead when Nick Sager scored on a Cody Oswald assist just 4:54 into the game. ETBU came back to tie the game at the 16:50 mark on an Aaron Erickson goal. The Tigers made it 2-1 with a Juan Olua goal. The Cowboys tied it up when Chinedu Okoro scored on a Sager assist off a corner kick knotting the game at the 27:11 mark. ETBU retook the lead with a goal by Chad Monk at the 31 minute mark and it remained that way through the first half. HSU came out strong in the second half and David Salas had his fourth goal of the year on a header. Sager had the assist. The Cowboys took the lead at the 53:50 mark when Sager beat his man one-on-one and slapped it by the keeper to make it 4-3. ETBU tied the game on a Trey Beall shot when the Cowboys had miscommunication in the back and rather than clearing the ball it was hit home to tie the game. HSU ended the scoring at the 66:58 mark when Oswald scored on a set piece on a chipped direct kick from Colt McKee. HSU won its fifth straight game to move to 5-2 on the year and more importantly are 3-0 in ASC play. ETBU fell to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in league play. HSU will host LeTourneau on Saturday at 4 p.m. --- HSU Athletics --- |
