Sept. 21, 2004 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team defeated NAIA UT-Permian Basin, 3-0, Tuesday evening at Shelton Stadium in front of 625 fans on Big Country Soccer Association Aprreciation Night. The Cowboys got on the board in the 10th minute executed a perfect set piece. Ricky Matthies sent in a free kick to David Salas, who one touched it to Kyle Rampy for a score. In the 14th minute Salas scored on a free kick from Sam Billelo. Salas then found Rampy in the 30th minute for Rampy's second goal of the night. Ryan Shaughnessy was spectacular in goal, especially in the second half where he made three highlight reel saves. He finished the game with six saves. HSU improved to 4-2-1 on the year and UT-Permian Basin fell to 3-3. HSU travels to Texas Lutheran on Friday for an ASC tilt with the Bulldogs. |
