Cowboys Beat UMHB in Last Ten Minutes

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team scored two goals in the final ten minutes of the game to knock off Mary Hardin-Baylor 2-0 in their American Southwest Conference opener this afternoon at Shelton Stadium.

HSU got a goal from freshman David Salas on a Brian Stuab assist in the 81st minute to go ahead 1-0. They would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 87th minute when senior Jeff Brooks scored an acrobatic goal on an assist from Nick Sager. The Cowboys outshot the Crusaders 19-6. Sophomore Ryan Shaughnessy had two saves in goal to get the shutout win.

Hardin-Simmons improves to 5-2 on the season and have a 1-0 record in ASC play. Mary Hardin-Baylor drops to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the ASC. Next up for the Cowboys is a match-up with Schreiner in Kerrville on September 26.
