HSU Blows Past Concordia-Austin, 9-0

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team scored early and often as the Cowboys won its American Southwest Conference West Division opener, 9-0, over Concordia-Austin, Friday evening at Shelton Stadium .

David Salas and James Burton scored :56 apart in the first eight-plus minutes of he game and the Cowboys were never challenged. Burton's goal was the 30th of his career. Salas added another goal in the 24th minutes, to take over the team lead with five goals on the year.

The game was shortened to 70 minutes, as the Tornados were playing with just 12 players.

Nick Sager, Poncho Gloria, Steven Dahl, Ricky Matthies, Calvin Key and Chris Carroll all added single tallies for the Cowboys.

HSU improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in ASC play. Concordia fell to 0-3 and 0-2. HSU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 4 p.m. on Saturday, following the women's tilt between the same two teams.
