AUSTIN, Texas - Pollo Maldanado led the Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team past Concordia-Austin 10-0 in its American Southwest Conference opener in Austin. Manuel "Pollo" Maldanado scored three goals and added an assist to propel the Cowboys to a 10-0 win. The Cowboys did not got on the board until the 21st minute, but scored four times before halftime to take control of the game. The Cowboys added six goals in the second half. Ryan Shaughnessy was not tested much in goal for the Cowboys and freshman Chase Turner played the last 21 minutes in goal, marking his HSU debut. Colt McKee and Drew Meilinger each scored a pair of goals for the Cowboys. Three of the Cowboys' goals came off penalty kicks. Nick Sager, Shaughnessy and Chris Key each had a goal for the Cowboys. HSU outshot the Tornados 39-4. HSU is now 3-1-1 on the year and 1-0-0 in ASC play. Concordia-Austin is 1-2-0, 0-1-0. |
