RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin Simmons' mens' soccer team got back on the winning track by beating Southwestern University 3-0 in the ASC/SCAC Challenge on Saturday with a big second half effort. HSU was held scoreless in the first half but came out firing early in the second, going ahead 1-0 on a goal by Kyle Rampy on an assist from Brian Staub in the 45th minute. HSU would add two more goals late in the game, the first by James Burton from Kyle Rampy in the 70th minute, and the second by David Salas from Calvin Key in the 84th minute. Rampy led the way with a goal and an assist, while goal keeper Ryan Shaughnessy netted the shutout win with six saves. HSU is now 3-2 overall on the season and have yet to play a conference game. Southwestern is also 3-2 on the year. The Cowboys are in action again September 19 at home against Concordia at 8 PM. --- HSU ATHLETICS --- |
