Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team played well early but top-ranked and defending national champion Trinity came on strong to defeat the Cowboys 5-1, at the Trinity Soccer Complex on Friday evening.
HSU senior Kyle Rampy scored on a free kick in the 23rd minute to tie the game at 1-1, but Trinity added for straight goals. Cullen Davis (13:47), Scott Schwartz (33:15), Eddie Ho (49:33), Andrew Wade (63:25) and Matt Beham (82:16) added goals for the Tigers.
The Cowboys (1-1-1) will return to action Saturday when it plays Southwestern at 5 p.m at Trinity. Trinity improves to 3-0 on the year.
