Final Stats

WHEATON, Ill. - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season over Saint John's (Minn.) at the Wheaton College Classic, Friday afternoon in Wheaton, Illinois.

Freshman Pancho Gloria scored the game winner in the 31st minute, when he scored off an assist from fellow freshman Nick Sager.

The win was the first in the Dan Heger era as the Cowboys improved to 1-1. Saint John's fell to 2-1 on the year.

"This is a big win for us," said Heger. "This will give our young guys some confidence. I think we grew up a little bit today and the whole atmosphere was a good learning experience."

Dustin Holly and Ryan Shaughnessy split halves in the win, with Holly playing the first half and Shaughnessy finishing up the game.

In a change of schedule, the Cowboys will play Wheaton at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The event was scheduled as a tournament, but has been changed to a Classic format. Wheaton is the No. 9 team in the nation in this week's rankings.
