Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead over University of the South, but after going a man down with a red card gave up two late goals and ended its season-opener with a tie 2-2.
Freshman Kris Noel scored in the 44th minute, just before halftime to give the Cowboys the lead. Daniel Arnold had the assist. Nick Sager scored in the 53rd minute on a Drew Meilinger assist.
Senior Kyle Rampy was hit with his second yellow card of the match, that turned into a red card and sent the Cowboys a man down. Patrick Burke scored a pair of goals, in the 68th minute. He added another in the 85th minute.
The Cowboys will play Piedmont at noon on Sunday in Sewanee.
