GEORGETOWN, Texas - For the second straight game Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer fell behind 2-0 and could not overcome the deficit as the Cowboys fell to Southwestern University, 3-2, Saturday night at Southwestern Field in Georgetown. John Martinez put the Pirates on the board with a goal off a Lauro Davalos corner kick in the 22nd minute. Kyle Strine made it 2-0 when he buried a penalty kick in the 47th minute. Freshman Cody Oswald scored for the Cowboys in the 56th minute on an Estevan Arbariza assist. The Cowboys tied the game in the 66th minute when Colt McKee buried one in the net. However, the Pirates' Cory Fujimoto beat HSU freshman keeper Austin White in the 85th minute for the game winner. The Cowboys are 0-2 on the year and will host Northwood on Sept 8 in the home opener. --- HSU Athletics --- |
