GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team took a while to settle into its season opener and as a result, the Cowboys dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 5 Trinity, Friday afternoon at Southwestern Field in Georgetown. Trinity came out and scored goals in the 19th and 22nd minutes to take a 2-0 leade. Tyrone Petrakis scored the first goal and Patrick Floeck scored on a corner kick. Trinity scored on another corner in the 44th minute to make it 3-0 at halftime. Floeck scored again in the 47th minute to make it 4-0. Freshman Estevan Arbariza scored for the Cowboys in the 49th minute on a Ryan Flanigan assist and David Salas added his first goal of the season in the 56th minute to make it 4-2. Petrakis made it 5-2 with a goal in the 60th minute for Trinity. The Tigers outshot the Cowboys 14-5. Joshua Pringle played the first half in goal for the Cowboys and had two saves. Austin White had four saves for the Cowboys. HSU will have to put the game behind them quickly, as they play Southwestern at 6 p.m. Saturday in Georgetown. --- HSU Athletics --- |
